Elementary School
Grades 1-4

Picture
In grades one through four, children are fully immersed in a comprehensive academic program complemented by formal religious education. As part of this curriculum, second-grade students undergo Sacramental preparation, preparing them to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion.

In the lower grades, students establish a strong foundation in mathematics that prioritizes the development of academic language and fundamental skills.

Promoting a love for reading is a central objective across all grade levels. Our curriculum includes grade-level reading initiatives alongside personalized, leveled reading activities. Utilizing the Renaissance Learning Accelerated Reader program, students enhance their comprehension skills and monitor their progress in reading.

Our dynamic science and social studies curricula offer hands-on learning experiences that deepen students' understanding of their community and the world around them. The elementary years also introduce students to our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) focus, fostering problem-solving skills through engaging, experiential activities.

Additionally, students benefit from a well-rounded academic experience with Spanish, music, art, physical education, and library classes. Technology integration further enriches their learning journey, preparing them for success in a rapidly evolving digital world.

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, our elementary students enjoy a well-rounded academic experience designed to nurture both their minds and hearts.

In addition to core subjects, children benefit from Spanish, music, art, physical education, and library classes, with technology integration enhancing their readiness for a digital future. Our science and social studies programs emphasize hands-on learning that connects students to their community and the wider world, while a strong focus on STEM builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum, supported by grade-level programs, personalized reading activities, and the Renaissance Learning Accelerated Reader program to foster comprehension and a lifelong love of books.

Mathematics instruction builds a strong foundation through the My Math program, ensuring students gain confidence and mastery as they progress through the grades. Complementing academics, children participate in formal religious education, with second-grade students receiving special preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion.

"The values-based education provided are Our Lady aligns closely with our family's beliefs and morals. We have been impressed with the rigorous curriculum, dedicated teachers, and small class sizes that ensures individualized attention for each student."
